Beneficial for Children, Teens, and Young Adults Who:
- Experienced Developmental Trauma: Includes substance exposure in utero, abuse/neglect, chronic socioeconomic stress, and/or attachment wounds, particularly in the first 5 years of life.
- Display Behavioral Challenges: Such as difficulty regulating emotions, sleep issues, oppositional defiance, hyperactivity, impulsivity, aggression, self-harm, difficulty focusing, poor school performance, and sensory sensitivities.
Comprehensive Brain Development Report
The NMT assessment provides a visual representation of a person’s brain development, including a “brain map” of areas that are underdeveloped and need support for optimal functioning. The report assesses four key domains:
- Sensory Integration
- Self-Regulation
- Relational Health
- Cognitive Skills
Assessment Process
The process involves information-gathering interviews focused on understanding the client’s developmental background, adverse experiences, and relational health throughout their lifespan. This data is used to complete the brain map and create recommendations for supportive interventions.
Purpose and Application
- Formulating Treatment Plans: The NMT assessment can help create an initial therapy treatment plan or enhance existing therapy services by providing insight into behavior patterns based on brain and central nervous system development.
- Identifying Interventions: It identifies therapeutic interventions to be implemented at home, school, and/or in clinical settings. These interventions include techniques for the client and psychoeducation and skill-building for parents/primary caregivers to support their child's healing and potential.
Important Note
The NMT assessment itself is not a therapeutic intervention. Its goal is to assess current functioning and identify appropriate therapeutic interventions for implementation.
